Data Retention Policy

This Data Retention Policy explains how long we keep your data, why we keep it, and your rights regarding data deletion. We are committed to transparency and clear information about the records stored in the app.

While your account is active, we retain all your data to provide our services:

• Profile Information: Retained indefinitely while account is active
• Mood Entries & Journal: Retained indefinitely for trend analysis
• Meditation Sessions: Retained for progress tracking and recommendations
• AI Conversations: Retained for 90 days, then anonymized for quality improvement
• Goals & Achievements: Retained indefinitely while account is active
• Support Messages: Retained only as needed for account support and legal requirements
• Payment Records: Retained for 7 years (legal requirement)

If you stop using Anchor but don't delete your account:

• We retain your data for 2 years of inactivity
• After 1.5 years, we'll email you to confirm if you want to keep your account
• After 2 years, we'll delete non-essential data (keeping only legal requirements)
• You can reactivate your account any time within the 2-year period

When you delete your account through Settings:

• Account closure: Your login, profile, mood entries, journals, goals, saved AI conversations and rewards are deleted through a resumable server process.
• Hosting backups: Deleted records leave the active app; provider backups and recovery storage follow the hosting provider’s retention process.
• Required retention: Payment and transaction records retained as required by law
• Retained billing records: App account identifiers are removed from retained accounting records. Payment providers may retain their own transaction records.

Legal & Compliance Requirements

We must retain certain data to comply with:

• Privacy: Wellness records are retained according to the policy above and applicable law
• Tax Law: Payment and subscription records for 7 years
• Anti-Fraud: Transaction logs for 5 years
• Legal Claims: Data related to disputes until resolved + 1 year

Your Data Rights

• Right to Access: Download all your data via Settings → Export My Data
• Right to Deletion: Delete your account via Settings → Delete Account
• Right to Rectification: Edit your data in Settings or contact support
• Right to Portability: Export data in JSON format
• Right to Object: Opt out of AI analysis in Settings (limits features)

Data Security During Retention

All retained data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is restricted to authorized personnel only. We conduct regular security audits and maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance. Anonymized data used for analytics cannot be re-identified.
